Stonegate, the UK’s largest pub company, is home to many, much-loved, brands including Be At One, Slug & Lettuce, and Walkabout.
When COVID-19 resulted in a national lockdown in Spring 2020, Stonegate knew technology would be core to reopening safely and driving operational efficiency.
With +1200 managed sites, Stonegate needed technology partners that could deliver at scale. It engaged Zonal to build mobile ordering and payment solutions for its major brands and OrderPay to provide a solution that worked across its multi-branded estate and offer consumers greater choice.
OrderPay was deployed as the sole order and pay solution in the recently acquired Ei Group’s managed sites and as an additional choice in Stonegate’s managed sites.
Due to its smart location technology, the OrderPay app ‘reskins & locks’ to a venue’s brand when a customer enters – ensuring full brand connection while providing customers with a single point of download for the entirety of the Stonegate managed estate.
Despite some of the initial challenges from rapid deployment and new technology, OrderPay and Stonegate worked closely to embed and refine the technology. When the government mandated table service for venues to stay open, the OrderPay platform helped the Stonegate pub teams to remain operational. Moreover, OrderPay’s transaction only pricing model meant Stonegate wasn’t burdened with any costs while trading at restricted levels.
Now preparing to reopen once again, Stonegate is working with OrderPay to implement innovative features that will drive sales and support staff in the digital age.
The roll out of OrderPay’s gifting feature will enable consumers to send brand-specific gifts to each other and Stonegate to provide consumers with supplier-funded promotions. While OrderPay Tabs will provide the option to run tabs via the app, presenting Operators with more flexibility and consumers with more ways to pay.
