Supporting

'Ask For Angela'

We’ve teamed up with Safer Sounds (part of the Safer Business Network) to encourage venues to sign up to & support the ‘Ask For Angela’ campaign.

‘Ask For Angela’ is a consumer-facing initiative that allows anyone who feels they are in an unsafe situation to alert hospitality staff using the code word “Angela”, so they can access discreet help quickly and safely.

As part of this initiative, OrderPay venues can access discounted Welfare Vulnerability Engagement (WAVE) training. Once their WAVE training is completed, we add ‘Ask For Angela’ badges to venue listings on the OrderPay app.

“WAVE training is so important… if venues choose to have it as part of their training programme then we think that’s absolutely excellent.”
Ian Graham, Chief Licensing Officer, Metropolitan Police

Read on to find out how your venue can benefit from discounted WAVE training & get your ‘Ask For Angela’ badge.

How can I get involved?

Safer Sounds, in partnership with the Metropolitan Police Service, created the WAVE Programme which includes WAVE Training & the ‘Ask for Angela’ Scheme. WAVE training aims to increase the skills, knowledge & confidence of venue staff & security teams to identify the signs of customer vulnerability & make appropriate interventions. This can reduce violence & coercion, & keep customers safe.

WAVE training gives staff the skills, confidence & knowledge to look after vulnerable customers & deescalate sensitive situations.

94% of 250 surveyed staff rated their skills as ‘Excellent’ after WAVE training, compared to just 52% before.

All OrderPay customers benefit from discounted WAVE training, paying just £200 instead of £250*.

Venues that complete WAVE training will be recognised with an ‘Ask For Angela’ badge within the OrderPay app, which also doubles as an information point for customers in need of help.
